The biggest challenge is not learning one complicated mechanic. It is managing several threats at the same time without losing control of your routine. The Music Box must remain wound, Foxy needs regular flashlight attention, and the Freddy Fazbear mask has to be used quickly when an animatronic reaches the office.

The Core Survival Routine

A reliable routine is more valuable than constantly improvising. Start by opening the camera and winding the Music Box. When you lower the monitor, be ready to use the Freddy mask immediately if necessary.

Once the camera is down, check the hallway with the flashlight and pay attention to the vents. Depending on the challenge, you may need to inspect one or both vent entrances.

The general rhythm becomes:

Wind the Music Box → lower the camera → use the mask when required → check the hallway and vents → repeat.

This cycle becomes increasingly fast as the AI levels rise.

Keep the Music Box Under Control

The Puppet remains one of the biggest threats in Custom Night because allowing the Music Box to run out can end the attempt. The box is wound through the camera system, meaning every visit to the monitor has to balance two competing concerns: keeping the Puppet contained while minimizing the time spent away from the office.

Do not treat the Music Box as something you can ignore until it is nearly empty. Build regular winding into your routine instead.

At higher difficulties, efficient camera management becomes essential because Foxy and other animatronics can punish you for spending too long on the monitor.

Master the Freddy Fazbear Mask

The Freddy mask is one of the most important defensive tools in FNAF 2. Several animatronics can be deterred by putting it on when they enter the office or appear in the vents.

Speed matters. Waiting to see whether the mask is necessary can turn a manageable situation into a jumpscare.

Practice switching between the camera, flashlight, and mask until the movements feel automatic. Custom Night leaves very little room for hesitation, especially when multiple threats arrive close together.
